Tear Down the Monument

If you’re the last American out of Texas, don’t forget to take down the flag and turn out the lights. Be sure to scuttle the USS Texas too. A nation that can’t even try to defend its own borders has no business keeping monuments to past glories. |
Update: for non-locals wondering if there’s a connection other than in my own mind, the USS Texas is moored near the monument.
Update 2: Oh, never mind about scuttling the Texas. That’s going to take care of itself.

Ubu, I want to again tell you I appreciate your support as well as Royko’s, The Umpire’s, TxGoodie’s, and every one elses (who I cannot think of off the top of my head at the moment) in this. There clearly ARE a few people who do give a damn. Just clearly not enough to make a decent statement to those who need to see it.
I AM feeling quite depressed today.

I’ve posted a link to your article over at Free Republic. Not holding my breath though; they have segragated bloggers from the “real” posts. Since KSEV is sitting this one out (for whatever reason), what about approaching one or more of the country stations? Probably Clear Channel is hopeless (gosh, media consolidation isn’t a bad idea or anything, you know) but mabe one of the others would bite?

I’m afraid that doing that will bring the Klukkers and the AN nutballs out of the woodwork. Conservatives apparently just don’t have a legacy of demonstrating/protesting (with perhaps the right to lifers as the exception that proves the rule). We apparently tend to fight our battles in other venues.
I talked to Benzion about posting it over at LST, and he demurred, saying that he preferred to stay above the fray.
